HOW DO YOU GET BETTER?

Very few people are self motivated enough to go out and push themselves beyond their own physical limitations. With that being said, how do you break through and achieve greatness?

It's really no secret. Are you ready? You MUST constantly seek out those who are better than you and do whatever it takes to surround yourself with them. That is the only way you will get better if you are not fortunate enough to be one of the very few people who are considered self motivated.

This might be one individual it may be a group of people or even several different people that have the type of characteristics you want.

Many times we look at what others have achieved and want the same thing for ourselves. But the question is, are we willing to do what they've done to get the same or similar results? If we really knew what they went through we might change our minds. That is what separates the average from the elite.

We all get into personal ruts with our fitness programs and lack motivation to stick it out. I don't care what you do to stay in shape everything gets old after awhile. The problem is for some people it only takes about 30 days or less to get bored and quit. Of course I'm going to tell you that I believe Kettlebells are one of the best exercise tools out there today. And they are! But guess what? You will get bored at some point and time if you don't have someone to encourage you. For me encouragement is not in what you say but what you do. If you workout with someone who is better than you that should encourage you to work harder.

That is exactly what happened to me today. It's been a little joke lately that I can't find anybody to go for a run with. Believe me I'm no world class runner. Until about 2 years ago I wasn't a runner period. Then this guy Jeff Peterson invited me to be part of the early morning running group of about 8 guys. Thanks Jeff. Your commitment has laid the groundwork in helping many people stay on track to reach their goals.

I was lucky enough to find somebody to run with today.

Enter Patrick Horst. If you know Patrick he is one of the best High School Cross Country and long distance track athletes in the state of Iowa. No Joke. Great idea I had in asking him if I could run with him. First of all his normal long distance pace is about my pace if I were to run a 100 yard dash. Patrick took me on about a 3 mile run. This was his warm up as he was going to continue running another round. Myself on the other hand was finished after round one. I know for a fact that Patrick pushed me harder than I ever would have went by myself.

My point to this story is today I too found my encouragement. It just happened to be a young high school athlete. And I am better today than I was yesterday! The only thing is we must get up and do it again tomorrow.

Who's your encouragement? Maybe that's just what you need to keep going one more day.

The first time you quit something it can be very difficult to handle. It just tears up your gut thinking about it. It can sometimes even make you sick to your stomach.

The second time you quit something it's still hard but not as hard as the first time.

The third time you quit something that's what you are, a quitter.

Don't be a quitter!
